Formulated as an equilibrium solution, peracetic acid is a versatile oxidizing agent used in chemical synthesis, bleaching and registered for use as a sanitizer, disinfectant and sterilant by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and as an antimicrobial agent by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for application to red meat carcasses, red meat carcass parts, trim and organs, and poultry carcasses, poultry carcass parts, and organs.

Care in handling and storage of the product. All FMC peracetic acid products are stabilized solutions. Packaging containers for FMC’s peracetic acid products are equipped with a vent to relieve internal pressure and must be stored upright. To maintain product quality, FMC recommends storage in a cool, dry, well ventilated area where the temperature of the container will not exceed 30 °C (86 °F). The oxidizing nature of peracetic acid requires storage separate from other flammables and non-compatibles.
